1. Documents: Originals You Must Carry
Carry the originals of everything below. Your call letter is the final authority, so read it line by line, because requirements differ slightly between entries and boards. This is the core of the SSB documents required list.
That last line is the one people miss. If you claimed a state-level sports achievement on your application, carry the certificate. If you cannot produce it, do not claim it.
2. Photocopies: How Many, and of What
Photocopies are the second half of the SSB documents required list. Carry photocopies of every original listed above, and more than you think you need. Ten to fifteen sets of the core documents is a reasonable working number. Photocopy facilities near a selection centre on a reporting morning are crowded, expensive and occasionally closed.
Check your call letter for whether self-attested or attested copies are required. Where attestation is specified, get it done before travelling, not at the centre. Keep two separate sets in two separate bags, because bags get misplaced.

A photograph that looks materially different from the one on your application creates a verification problem you do not want to be solving at a document check.
4. The Name-Mismatch Problem
This is the one item on the SSB documents required list that cannot be fixed at the centre. It is the most common documentary problem in North India and the hardest to fix in a hurry. Check that your name is spelt identically on every document: matriculation certificate, Class 12 certificate, degree, Aadhaar, application form. Common variations that cause trouble:
If there is a mismatch, obtain a correction or an affidavit from the issuing authority well in advance. Do not arrive at the board hoping it will be overlooked. The same applies to date of birth: the date on your matriculation certificate is the operative one, and no other document overrides it.
